Facts and Events
John Wallis inherited 300 acres of Partnership from his father and also owned Agreement.
John was a elected a vestryman in Shrewsbury Church, Kent County MD 8 April 1751.
The children of his second marriage, to Hannah Bodien, appear in the records of the Cecil Meeting of Friends and were raised Quakers even though John was Episcopal.
Will of John Wallis
Kent County Original Wills, 1430.
In the name of God amen. I John Wallis of Kent County Farmer being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (to Wit)
ItemI give and bequeath to my oldest son John Wallis my dwelling plantation being part of a ---land called Partnership with all the land which lies to the South part of a main road which leads from Thomas Perkins to the head of Chester River which I give to my said son to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
ItemI give and bequeath to my son Francis Wallis all my part of a tract of land called the Agreement which land I purchased of the heirs of Capt? William Gaitskill and also all my land which I hold in His Lordships Manor and likewise all the land called Partnership which lies to the northward of the aforesaid land leading from Thomas Perkins to the head of Chester River which road is to be division line between my afrsaid two sons which land I give to my son Francis to him and his heirs and assigns for ever.
As to my personal estate I give and bequeath in the following manor...First of all I give to my loving wife Hannah Wallis four negroes viz _eser, George, Ruth & Luci to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my Daughter Susanah Rasin two negroes viz Jasol & Phillis to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my Daughter Anne Wallis two negroes viz David & ___ to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my son John Wallis one negro boy named Joe to him and his heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my son Francis Wallis two negroes viz James & Ben to him and his heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my daughter Margaret two negroes viz Sarah and Daniel to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my daughter Hannah Wallis two negroes viz Jam & Fanney to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my daughter Elizabeth Wallis two negroes viz Josser & Kate to her and her heirs forever.
AlsoI give to my daughter Anne Wallis twenty pounds to be paid her out of my personal estate ___ to appraisement.
AlsoI give to my daughter Margaret Wallis twenty pounds to be paid her out of my personal estate ___
AlsoI give to my daughter Hannah twenty pounds to be paid to her out of my personal estate ___
AlsoI give to my daughter Elizabeth Wallis twenty pounds to be paid her out of my personal estate accordingly.
My will and desire is that my loving wife Hannah Wallis shall have the bringing up my afsd two sons and to have their estate both real and personal till they arrive to the age of twenty one provided she should not marry in that time and in case she should marry, my will is that she shall be contented with her thirds as the law divides. And further my will is that if my wife should live longer a widow then my son John should arrive to the age of twenty one that then she should have my now dwelling house during her widowhood.
ItemI give onto Ruth McDaniel, daughter of Hannah McDaniel twenty five pounds currency and my will is that if any of the above legatees should die without issue that their part of the personal estate shall be equally divided between my surviving children.
Where as by the last will and testament of William Wallis of Queen Anne County he left two hundred acres of land being part of a tract of land called Boothbies Fortune to be sold by his executor at public auction which agreeable to the afsaid will was done to Hugh Wallis of Kent County according to the meets and bounds laid out by John Watson for the said Hugh Wallis and for consideration of one hundred and sixty pounds current money of Maryland paid by the afsaid Hugh Wallis. I give and bequeath to the
afsaid Hugh Wallis the afsaid two hundred acres of land to him and his assigns forever.
The remaining part of my estate after my just debt is paid and my wifes third division is to be equally divided between my seven children viz Susanah Rasin, Anne Wallis, John Wallis, Francis Wallis, Margaret Wallis, Hannah Wallis & Elizabeth Wallis.
Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my loving wife and Joseph Rasin Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have ___to set my hand and seal this third day of February in the year of our lord seventeen hundred sixty and one.
John Wallis's will was witnessed by Philip Warner, William LeCount and Thomas Bowers Jr. and the will was proven 2 May 1761.

- ↑ John Knock and Jacob Falkner signed the inventory of John Wallis as next of kin.
- ↑ The administration papers of John's estate includes:
"of cash due from the deceased to Henry Hurt and Richard Hurd for their felial portions and paid by the these accountants per order of Kent County Court to Samuel Wallis" and "of cash due from the deceased to Ebenezer Perkins for his wifes filial portion and paid by these accountants". It is assumed that these three persons are the sons and daughter of his sister Margaret (Wallis) Hurt who died before this time. The children became orphans when the father John Hurt died c May 1751. Skinners extracts of this document lists payments to Hannah Wallis, wife of James Webb & wife of Andrew Graham for their portion of their father William Wallises estate.
