"2. John Tolman, son of Thomas Tolman, was made freeman in 1678. He married first, Elizabeth Collins of Lynn, Mass., who was the mother of his nine children. She died in Dorchester, Oct. 7, 1690, and he married June 15, 1692, Mary Paul, widow. He served as one of the Selectmen of Dorchester, 1693, 1694, 1695 and died there Jan. 1, 1724/5 in his 83rd year. It has not been found whether he was the son of his father's first or second wife.”
