John Tidd, Jr. was born in England about 1625 and died 13 Apr. 1703 at the age of 78. He probably came to America with his father who was in Charlestown in 1637 and later settled at Woburn.

John married 14 Apr. 1650 REBECCA WOOD of Woburn. They moved to Cambridge Farms (now Lexington) in 1686. He became one of the proprietors of Cambridge for, in the division of the land in 1683 above the " eight mile line," John Tidd received his distributive share. He also purchased land of David Mackgeney, William Carly, and the homestead was bought of David Fiske, conveyed by deed dated 1 June 1686. On the subscription list for building the meeting-house is the name of John Teed, and his sons Samuel and Joseph; and on the tax bill for 1693 appear his name and those of his sons Joseph, Samuel and Daniel. In 1693 he was chosen one of the assessors and one of a committee to purchase a tract of land for the support of the ministry. His will dated 7 Aug. 1701 was proved 31 May 1703. His wife Rebecca died 10 June 1717, aged 92.
