Records of John B. Thomas
- At the request of Edward Burch of Thomas the following Deed was Recorded this 5th day of May Anno Domini 1813
- Know all men by these presents that I John B Thomas of Charles County and State of Maryland for the Consideration of the suem of six hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Margrett Burch Daughter of Edward Burch of Thomas of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby Acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargained sell and deliver unto the said Margarett Burch her heirs or assigsn three negroes to wit Adam Let and her Child Harriet which said negroes Adam Let and her Child Harriet I warrant and defend to the said Margaret Burch her heirs or assigns against me my heirs As witness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21st day of April 1813.

- On the back of the aforegoing document of writing is thus written to wit
- Maryland Charles County to wit I Margaret Wood and Edward Burch of Thomas both of the County and State aforesaid do agree that we and Each of us have no right title claim and interest to the within named negroes Adam Let and her child Harriet and in and each of us do agree that the said John B Thomas had a right to sell and give a bill of sale for and we further Agree that the three negroes Adam Let and her childr harriet is the right and property of the above and the within named Margrett Burch her heirs or assigns and we further agree that the said Margrett Burch can do just what she pleases with the above and the within named negroes As Witness our hands and seals this 21st day of April 1813~
