John Thayer, housewright of Winchester, bought property 1805, b. about 1782. Sold farm in 1813 and was living in Alstead in 1815. Married (1) Polly ---, m. (2) Surrey 13 Apr 1809 Polly McCurdy. "Perhaps he was the John Thayer who d. in Keene Mar. 19 (or 20), 1833; age 50 years." [Note: it is presumed that he was the John Thayer of Keene because the guardian papers of his daughter Hephzibah (see her page) identify her father as John Thayer of Keene in 1822. Note that the Find A Grave memorial page identifies a third wife not mentioned here.]

[Note: clearly this is a badly edited source with numerous mistranscriptions, etc., but Asa Thayer is the only Thayer in Warwick of the same or earlier generation and this makes John his brother which would account for him being "of Warwick" when he married.]
