"The latter part of his life was doubtless spent at 'Cape Ann side' (Beverly) where, in 1662, he sold seven acres of land to William Dodge, but with use and occupation reserved during the life of 'Eelener my now wife.' He died between 1667, when the last record of him is found, and 1677 when his son John and his wife are referred to as 'John Stone, Sr. and wife Abigail.'"

"In his entry for John Stone who appeared in Salem by 1636, Savage stated that 'possibly he was passenger in the Elizabeth 1635, from London, when custom house marks the age of the person, 40 [Savage 4:205], Pope created separate entries for the passenger list record and the Salem man (and in the entry for the latter muddled the records for father and son) [Pope 436]. In 1930 Walter Goodwin Davis prepared an account of John Stone of Salem in 1636 without making any reference to the record for the passenger of 1635, which he would certainly have been aware of [Sarah Stone Anc 3-4]."
