Marriage

Holman states "[n]early all writers make this John, son of William, identical with another John, early in Newbury who married there, 2 Mar. 1669-79, Mary Chase, and went to Haverhill... There is however plenty of proof in the land records of Essex county that John, son of William and Elizabeth (Bitfield) went to South Carolina where he remained as founder of a southern family of the name."
