Andrew David Sauls was living in Dekalb County in 1840 between an Ingle & a Keener. J. S. Wilmon-grandson of Andrew David Sauls was the administrator of his estate upon death. There was also a Nathan Franklin Shuffle( 8 yrs old in Aug. 1900) and John Henry Shuffle(6 yrs old in Aug. 1900) living with a John Schuffle, Shuffle in Etowah, their mother & father both being dead. These seemed to be some kin. Sauls, Engles, Keeners, from Lincoln Co, N. C. Prior to this from Pensylvania, not far from Gettysburgh, according to Jerry Jones, President of Etowah Co. Geneological Society. Came down the Shennadoah Valley to N. C. Originally from the black forest of Germany. Andrew David Sauls was the origional settler/owner of the farm of 116 acres where the Sauls graveyard is located. Lewis Martin Sauls, my grandfather had a farm down the road which A.J. Sauls took over when Lewis Martin moved to Texas. Hope this helps, Layne Sauls Corrections, Additions, and Revisions by Elizabeth Mintz July 2004 She has large differences in DoB and DoD. I was just commenting that this almost assuredly is Loucinda Caroline and her son John F. living with Andrew and Mary. Thanks, Layne Thanks Layne, this helps me tie things together. John F. Sauls latter married a cousin of mine, Milas (Mily) [Millie] NIX. I am not sure of her exact name, but have found her listed several ways, and all appear to be nick names. she was the daughter of Dicey B. HOPPER , who married Thomas B. NIX, the son of Tyre Nix, and Grandson of Jennings Nix. I have found that Thomas died as a very young man and apparently was the father of only the first of Dicey's five children. This is the family of John F. and Millie as I currently have. The names of the children came from census records with poor handwriting and most surely are not the correct spelling. This is the listing I have for John F. and Millie: Search > Census > U.S. Census > 1900 United States Federal Census > Alabama > Etowah > Short Creek > District 156, image 6 of 25. line 51, 251/251, Sauls, John T.
