    John Roeckner, a pioneer resident and farmer of Chickasaw, died at his home Wednesday afternoon, April 26 at 5:00 o'clock from pneumonia after an illness of one week. The deceased was born at St. John on February 29, 1860 the son of Mr. and Mrs . Wm. Roeckner. He spent his entire life in Mercer County. On January 29, 1890 he was untied in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Hindersat St. John and to this happy union nine children were born. Mr. Roeckner had reached the age of seventy-nine yea rs, one moth and 27 days. He was a member of the precious Blood Catholic Church of Chickasaw and a member of the St. Joseph Men's society. Serving as Marion Township Trustee for a period of eighteen years he took an active part in civic affair s of his community. He died well fortified with the last Sacraments of the Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. August Knapke, St. John, Mrs. Henry Heuing, Wendelin, Mrs. Ralph Brandt, and Agnes at Dayton; four sons, John, Piqua; Otto and Norbert at Dayton, and Werner in Chickasaw; one sister, Mrs. John Buchler, Botkins, nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The deceased was preceded in death by one son, William, three sisters and two brothers .
