John Primet was baptised on 9th June 1776 at Great Wymondley in Hertfordshire, son of Sarah Primet, formerly Dixon, and her husband Thomas Primet. John was the eldest of their eight children.

John was married at Great Wymondley on 15th February 1798 to Elizabeth Silso. They went on to have one son the following year. However, John died about the same time that the child was born; he was buried and his son (also called John) was baptised on the same day, 20th January 1799. John was 22 years old. The boy did not long outlive his father, being buried two months later. Elizabeth survived John by nearly sixty years and remarried in 1801. Both John's parents also outlived him.

    There are two possible burials:
    Burials / 1799 / John Primett Jan[ua]ry 20th
    Burials / 1799 / John Primett March 24th

There is also a baptism on the same day as the first of these burials:
    Baptisms / 1799 / John of John & Elizabeth Primett Jan[ua]ry 20th

Whilst it is possible that the child could have died later on the day he was baptised, it seems less likely that the family would have proceeded so swiftly as to arrange for his burial on the same day. On balance therefore, it seems more likely that John senior was the first burial, being buried on the day his son was baptised. The son will then be the John buried two months later.
