Recorded as being a soldier of the First Independent Company of Dunmore, Colony of Va.

He purchased land in Greene Co., Tn. 8 Aug. 1780 from David Reese, 400 acres. He took part in the battle of King's Mountain, was one of Greene County's first magistrates, was Colonel, then Captain of the local militia.
