Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 3, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Morrison, John, born 5/1/1765 in Orange County, Virginia, where entered service 1781 in Virginia regiment; resided there 31-32 years, thence to Goochland County, Virginia, then in 1821 to Louisa County, Virginia, where granted Pension in 1834; died there 8/20/1849; married there 1/18/1839 to Polley Thomasson when known as Major John; widow applied for pension there in early 1853 age 71; Pension Application rejected, insuffient proof of being widow of soldier; died there 9/1853 when David Hunter was County Court Clerk; soldier's brother George made affidavit 1834 in Henry County, Virginia, when resided in Louisa County, Virginia; George Gravely, County Justice of the Peace & Anthony M. Dupuy County Court Clerk of Henry County, Virginia, then; affidavit made in 1832, Louisa County, County Justice of the Peace William C. Nelson; Robert Clark made affidavit 1832 in Orange County, Virginia, that he served in Revolutionary War with soldier, per that County Justice of the Peace Lawrence T. Dade; Reynolds Chapman then Orange County Court Clerk. F-R7424, R1773.
