John Mills had married Rebecca by 1687, when they sold land he had inherited from his father. He had purchased 200 acres on Wapananson Creek in 1682. In 1706, he married Mary North, a widow.

John's children by Rebecca were: 1. Rebecca Mills [m. (1) Alexander Younger, c. 1707, and (2) Timothy Driscoll, c. 1732. In 1732, Driscoll purchased 200 acres from John Mills (probably his brother-in-law), late of St. Anns Parish, on Occupacia Creek which had formerly belonged to John Mills Sr (his wife's deceased father). In 1735 Driscol sold this land back to John Mills.]; 2. Sarah (m. Willard); 3. Elizabeth (m. Hardee); 4. Martha (m. John Spiers/Spires)

John's children by Mary North were: 1. John Mills [carpenter and sometimes resident of Henrico Co. He is the John Mills who created a life estate for the Spiers family in 1725, and is the one who had land dealings with Timothy Driscoll (see above).]; 2. Mary Mills

Mary North had a daughter (Elizabeth) when she and John Mills married, who is listed in John's will with his other children.

Will of John Mills of the Parish of St. Ann in the County of Essex, being sick and weak of body, dated 8 Nov. 1716.

Unto my son John Mills all my land only reserving to my loving wife Mary the plantation whereon I now live to be bounded from the road that leads from Mr. Robt. Brookes to the church to the upper end of the line, during her natural life.

My son John Mills have full liberty over all my land for timber when he shall come to the age of twenty one years or day of marriage. If my said son should die without heirs my daughter Mary Mills after my wife's death to have that part of my land given to my wife.

All the other part of my land unto my daughter Elizabeth the daughter of my aforesaid wife, provided my son John Mills die without heire, To my daughter Sarah Williard twelve pence in full consideration of all my estate.

To my daughter Rebecca Younger twelve pence in full,

To my daughter Elizabeth the daughter of my now wife two cows and calves to be delivered to her at the age of eighteen or day of marriage.

To my daughter Elizabeth Hardee twelve pence in full.

To my daughter Martha Spiers twelve pence in full.

To my daughter Mary Mills one heifer of three years old and one young cow to be delivered to her at the age of eighteen or day of marriage.

To my son John Mills one feather bed, two blankitt, one rug, one pare of sheets, one boulster, when he shall attain to the age of twenty-one years or day of marriage [sic].

My son Jno. Mills have two years' schooling.

Residue of my estate divided between my loveing wife and my son John Mills, my wife to have two thirds, my son one.

My loving wife Mary Mills executrix and William Grunall executor.
