Came to USA 7 September 1853 landed in New York. Declared he was going to Missouri. In the 1890 Census for Cooper County, Missouri - Military information listed as: Mills John J. Rank: Private, Company: B, Regiment: 50th Missouri Infantry, Enlisted Date: 18 October 1864, Discharge date: 07 August 1865, Served 0 years, 10 months, 3 days, Post Office Address: Gooch's Mill, Comments: (none listed) John Jacob was first married to Louisa Miller in 1855. When Louisa died, he then married her sister Margaret Miller. Died 1873 according to John J. Mills' civil war pension file noted in an email from Stephen Matyas Jr. on 6 June 2005). When Margarate died he then married Eldevine (Johnson) Jacobs Gainer on 15 March 1874. No children where born from the last marriage, as it was the 3rd marriage for both John and Eldevine. Souce for this marriage is found in Cooper County marriage book E page 160 and reads as follows: Pm March 15th, 1874 at residence Alexander Robertson, Mr. John J. Mills to Mrs. Eldervine Jacobs all of Cooper County Mo - were united in marriage. References
