From the November 7, 1882, edition of the Larned City, Kansas Chronoscope: Mr. John Miller, an old settler of Larned, died at this residence in this city Monday morning, of contracted or torpid liver. Mr. Miller's health first failed him about a year ago, and he removed to Topeka in the hopes of securing treatment that would cure him, but returned again something like three months ago, in a still worse state of health than he was in at the time he went away. Since then he has been gradually failing, and his death was not at all unexpected. He leaves a wife and two children, Miss Lizzie Miller, who is well known being the eldest. Mr. Miller came from Illinois to this State, was an industrious citizen and generally liked by all those who knew him. He was buried at Larned cemetery Tuesday, quite a large number of our best citizens attending the burial. Mrs. Miller desires us to express her thanks to the many friends and neighbors who came so kindly to her assistance during her husband's long illness, and comforted her so much in the trying hour of his death.
