From Hills, "History of Ashland County" John McCrory was among the pioneers of this section of Ohio, having removed from Jefferson County, Ohio about 1812 and settled on the Blackfork, and soon after sold his farm there and came to Vermillion Township and purchased the tract of land where Harrison McCrory now lives. His father, David McCrory, was a young unmarried man at the time and engaged in the hardships of those early times and assisted in clearing the land. When Harrison was a small boy, his father died, and his mother built the house in which he now lives. She died Sept 30, 1876, Oct 1863, Mr. McCrory was married to Miss Elizabeth Sackett of Montgomery Township, Ashland County. Mr. and Mrs. McCrory are members of the Presbyterian Church in Hayesville.
