Three McCrory brothers came from Northern Ireland to America, arriving in the Port of Charles Town in South Carolina in the year of 1763, during the Revolutionary War. It is tradition that they enlisted with the Colonists and later became separated, and their families remained separated. One brother is believed to have located in the south perhaps in North Carolina, another brother came to Pennsylvania. There are many McCrorys in Indiana and Ohio who are descendants of the third brother. (This brother also taveled from Carolina to buy land in Washington County, Pennsylvania.]
In order no time might be lost in settling those persons in either of the two new Townships lately laid out for Foreign Protestants His Honor the Lieutenant Governor ordered those people to attend with their petitions. To distinguish those townships from the others in the Province names were given them and proposed that the one at Long Cane should be called Boonesborough and the other Belfast. The petitioners were thereupon called in when they were severally sworn to their family right and having produced Certificates of their being Protestants were approved of. David McCrory was presented with 100 acres and Bounty in the Township of Boonesborough. On April 24, 1780 David was given a land grant from Virginia to settlers in what is now Pennsylvania. The certificates mostly 400 acres were listed by name of the applicant, date of certificate, date of settlement and location (generally by name of stream) This ground had been granted to David by the state of Pennsylvania in 1774. It was located by Pigeon Creek in Yohogania County.
