Transcript:
In the name of God Amen the five and twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred fiftie and eight I John Marshall of St Albans in the County of Herts yeoman being aged infirm and weak of body but of good & perfect memory thanks be given unto Almighty God for the same, doe make and undergive this my last will and testament in manner and forme following. That is to say; First and principally I comend and comitt my Soule unto the hands of Allmighty God and Jesus Christ his onely Sonne our Saviour trusting by his bitter death and passion to have true remission and forgiveness of all my sinns, and to be made [partaken?] of Everlasting life in the kingdome of heaven, and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried devoutly at the discretion of my Executors hereunder named, Also I give and bequeath unto John Marshall & Joseph Marshall my sons equally to be devided between them All my goods and chattels & household stuffe in my now dwelling house in St Albans aforesaid or elsewhere And also the lease of my house wherein I now dwell, after the Death of Abigail my wife; and also all other my bonds Bills specialties writings obligatory debts duties and demands whatsoever which shalle owing and [?] to me at the tyme of my decease; And I doe hereby revoke and make void all former and other wills by me made; And doe make hereof the said John Marshall and Joseph Marshall full and sole Executors of this my last Will and testament, And do define W[illia]m Marston of St Albans gent and Thomas Woodward of the Same Shoemaker to be aydeing and assisting my Exectuors aforesaid by the best advice and Counsell they can for the due execution of this my last will, whom I likewise doe hereby make overseers of the same And for their time and paynes to be taken therein I doe hereby give each of my said Overseers two shillings a piece to be paid by my Executors aforesaid immediately after my decease In witnes whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale publishing this to be my last Will and Testament aforesaid the daie and year first above written John Marshall Sealed published and declared in the presence of Jo[hn] Ellis Thomas Woodward Hugh Puishande
This will was proved at London the last day of December One thousand six hundred fiftie Eight before the Judges & by the oath of John and Joseph Marshall the sonnes and executors, To whom administration was granted, they being first sworn trulie to administer by Commission.
