    "John Malin came to Hopkins Co. in 1809 from NC, settled in Carbondale. Lived there for 50 years. He was a private in the company of Michael Wolf, 1st Ky. Mounted Militia. He was in General Samuel Hopkins expedition against the Indians in the fall of 1812. John donated one acre in 1819 on which the Cane Run Church was built. He is buried in an unmarked grave in the Cane Run Cemetery."
