[edit] ===============================Utica Observer-Dispatch, 19 Nov 1966: JOHN MACKOON Camden-- John J. MacKoon, 74, of 10 Fourth ST, died yesterday in Rome City Hospital after a two weeks' illness. Mr. MacKoon was educated in Fulton schools and was an electrician for the Dairymen's League in Syracuse for many years. For 15 years he was employed by the Rome State School as a colony supervisor. He operated MacKoon's Nursing Home in Camden (now known as the Myers Home for the Aged) and also operated the MacKoon Tourist Home on South AV in Syracuse from 1949 to 1963, at which time he retired and came to Camden. He married Edna Greggains in 1924 in Rome. Mr. MacKoon was a Methodist and a member of Lodge 223, F&AM, Rome. The funeral will be... Monday from the E.H. McDaniels Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Stanley E. Watson, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Camden, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes. References
