The Lukenbills are of German descent and originally came from the Pallottine or Palatine area in Germany. Johan Ekel and Heindrik Lukenbill arrived in Philadelphia on August 29, 1730 on the good ship "Thistle",Colin Dunlop,Master.The ship cleared from Rotterdam on June 19, 1730 and made a stop at Dover,England. The next known record of Lukenbills was when John and Anna Christina Lukenbill purchased land in North Carolina in 1758.The land was located on Bounder's fork of Abbott's Creek in Rowan County. John and Anna Christina were devout churchgoers and were members of Pilgrim Church which is located near present day Lexington,N.C. |
