Grandfather (John Henry Luehr) and grandmother (Dorthea Meyer) Luehr came to American when papa (Frederick Luehr) was 13 years old (Grandparents were 51 and 42). Uncle Henry came a few years before to avoid military training (never went back). I believe they (men in Germany?) all had 5 years in the military, if not longer. Settled in Dorchester and never lived on another farm. Papa also lived on the same place. In Germany Grandfather was a carpenter, I believe. Ask Bert (Albert Luehr) if he remembers the big flour box in the moose room. They brought that along (home made).
