Grandfather (John Henry Luehr) and grandmother (Dorthea Meyer) Luehr came to American when papa (Frederick Luehr) was 13 years old (Grandparents were 51 and 42). Uncle Henry came a few years before to avoid military training (never went back). I believe they (men in Germany?) all had 5 years in the military, if not longer. John and Dorothea settled in Dorchester and never lived on another farm. Papa (Frederick) also lived on the same place.

In Germany Grandfather was a carpenter, I believe. Ask Bert (Albert Luehr) if he remembers the big flour box in the moose room. They brought that along (home made). Ha!
