Believed to have been a taylor. "Recognized Patroit; age 43 in 1775 S.C. Safety Council Calvalry Unit." 1764 Grant to John Love 130 acres in Mecklenburg C. on east side of Moore's Creek otherwise called Turkey Creek, a branch of the Broad River, joining his own land. 1767 John love sells part of land granted to William Love in 1753. Signing are John and Martha Love. 2nd son As Per 1779 deed, got by his father's will, "plantation I formerly lived on upon Broad River, likewise three acres of wheat on plantation I now live on", hence, nearby. Recognized patroit in Revolutionand ONLY John in Chester 1790 census. He showed therein with two males over 16, two under. This checks with 1802. [see below] Will of 1802 names wife Martha, sons Joseph, William, John, Jr.; Thomas Robert and in deeds of 1784 & 1788, gave lands at mouth of Turkey Creek to "my son James, Jr." (1763-1807) John Love, appears to be the same of deeds dated 12/30/1779, deed book D pp223-227 Chester County, S.C... "John Love, "yeoman" and Martha,his wife; James Love, "yeo-man" and Janet, his wife ...John being thenext older brother and heir of William, who died intrastate, sell William Love's land in Chester County and Camden District, S.C., to William Gaston of camden District, S.C. He styles himself John Love, "taylor". Several tracts of land granted by states of North and South Carolina -- deeds state that some of the land was thought to be in Anson County, N.C. and Turkey Creek was at this time called Love's Creek. Will of John Love I John Love of Broad River Chester District and State of South Carolina Being Weak in body but of Sound and perfect mind and memory Blessedbe God do this Twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord onethousand Eight Hundred and two, make and publish this my Last will & testament in manner and form following -- that is to say---- First I give and bequeath to Martha my beloved wife one bed and furniture. Also one mare, saddle & bridle, two cows and calves her pick of stock, one half of the pewter and vessels on my shelves, likewise[?ambroses workes?] and her maintenance on the plantation Where I now live During her Natural Life of Widowhood ....... I Give and Bequeath to my Son William one survey of land containing Twenty-Seven acres likewise two dollars ..... I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Jane Two Dollars.... I Give and Bequeath to my Son James Two Dollars.... I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Martha Two Dollars.... I Give and Bequeath to my Son John one cow and calf and two dollars.... I Give and Bequeath to my Son Thomas two dollars.... I Give and Bequeath to my Son Robert two dollars.... I Give and bequeath to my Son Joseph two hundred acres in any part ofmy land that he shall chuse, likewise all my plantation tools, and the remainder of my land I allow to be sold and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided amongst all my Legatees and the remainder of my stock and other articles not before mentioned, I allow to be equally divided betwixt my Wife and my Son Joseph.... I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Sarah Two Dollars and Likewise her divided in the price of Land Above Mentioned.... and I do hereby ordain & appoint my Son in Law Robert Ellett Executorand my wife Martha Executrix of this my last will and testament duly to Execute the Same, In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Day and year first above Written...
