Facts and Events
John B. was born in a log cabin outside Birmingham, KS while the new family home was being built. His father, John G., had relocated from Lancaster Co., PA out to Kansas where he could get more farmland. The family later relocated near Newton, KS to be nearer other River Brethern from the east. John G. was concerned several of the girls had begun to marry "Methodists". John B. located to the Buckeye community north of Abilene, KS. He originally leased a farm from Arthur Kuntz as his son Harry was still to young to farm. Harry would later marry John B's daughter Laura. John B. and the family then lived on and leased the Livingston Place just south of the Union Cemetery. The leased from the widow Livingston then eventually relocated to a few miles north. John B. farmed in his later years with his two sons: Preston and Vernon. Image Gallery
