John Liscum died at the family home northeast of Renwick Wednesday morning, Nov 5th, at 3 o'clock, after an illness of a month's duration caused by Bright's disease.
John Liscum was born in Grant County, Wisconsin, Oct 30, 1859. At the age of 20 he came to Eagle Grove, Iowa, making his home for a time with his sister, Mrs. Abner McDonald. Dec 14, 1891, he was married to Miss Lena Speich of Renwick. To this union were born five children three sons and two daughters one little daughter dying Feb 3, 1902, at the age of 17 months.
Besides the bereaved wife and children the departed leaves to mourn one brother, Geo. Liscum of Great Falls, Mont., and two sisters, Mrs. A. E. Bliss, who at the imd was on her way to Colorado, and Mrs. Abner McDonald of Eagle Grove, who was at his bedside when the time came.
Funeral services were conducted at the house Friday forenoon at 11 o'clock by Rev. J. S. Nichelson of Goldfield, after which the remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery. . . .
Relatives from away in attendance at the funeral were: Abner McDonald and wife, Will Floyd and wife, Claude McVicker and wife, and Miss Mertie McDonald of Eagle Grove; Mrs. H. J. Fulton of Pierre, S. D.; Mrs. Rudolf Friday of Monticello, Wis.; Mrs. Forest B_bler of Albany, Wis; and Chas. McDonald and wife of Clinton.
