   John Laughner was born on May 8, 1913 the son of "Rev Joe" John Harrison and Mollie (Dalton) Laughner of Ohio.
   
   "Rev Joe" ministered at Bethel Missionary Baptist and worked at Logan Mills. John and his brother Ernest remained in Ohio when his father moved to Tennessee with his daughters, Bird and Joann and his son, Kyle.
   
   John Laughner married Susie Mae Slaton Feb 19, 1934. They resided in Morristown, TN and to this union they were blessed with two sons, J.W., Delmas and a daughter, Doris Ann Laughner.
   
   Tragedy struck Doris Ann with Polio, being complicated with Menigistis. John lost his first wife, Susie in 1944 not long after their eldest, JW, who died at age 7; therefore, John asked his father for help with the children. Rev Joe and Molly kindly extended their family to include both Doris Ann and her brother, Delmas.
   
   John, a widower, resided in Middleton, Ohio and worked to helped support his family. He met Gretrude "Gretie" and they decided to get hitched in Ohio. John and Gretie saved to purchase a farm to be near his family and her son, Robert Caudill, and daughter in law, Brenda South, in Thornhill on War Ridge in Grainger County, Tennessee. John was a friendly, humble man that liked the great outdoors and planted a few crops to flourish on War Ridge.
   
   John went to be with the Lord on August, 1985-86 in the Appalachia of Tennessee.
