Gertrude (Cornette) Laughner was born on April 15, 1924, in Cumberland County, Harlan, Kentucky to Alice Jackson, age 29, and Tip Cornett, age 23.
Gertrude resided in Harlan, KY, the hometown of her grandmother, Elizabeth Dixon, wife of James A Jackson and daughter of Union Army Corporal John C. Dixon.
Gretrude Cornett was married twice. Gertie's first husband, Wm Elmer Caudill and she had two sons - Robert Caudill and Nelson T Caudill (2011) and two daughters - Brenda G. South, and Glenda C. Profitt.
Gertrude's second husband was John Laughner of Thornhill, Tennessee and she had one step daughter, Doris Ann Laughner, a retired Elementary teacher in the Grainger County School systems.
Gretrude and John resided on the Laughner's country estate on Indian Creek in Grainger County, Tennessee . John widowed her in 1984 and then her daughter Glenda Profitt died in 2002.
Gretrude went to be with her family and friends on August 29, 2004, in Grainger County Tennessee USA when she was 81 years old.
