John P. Kifer, 89, of Jeannette, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 19, 1913, in Manor, a son of the late John and Hannah Plank Kifer. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Altman's as an inventory manager. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice L. Kifer; a brother, Edward Kifer; two sisters, Irene Frye and Hannah Snell; and a son-in-law, John Tilson. He is survived by two daughters, Marlene Tilson of Greensburg and Charlene Berlin and her husband, Fred, of Harrison City; a son, Dean C. Kifer and his wife, Susie, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Sherman officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
