He is on the 1734, Philadelphia Co. tax list for Gwynedd twp, listed as John Jones, "Penman" [Penmaen, the place of his birth]. The list for Jones in Gwynedd in 1734 looks like this:
John Jones, penman

John Jones, weaver
Cadwalader Jones
Hugh Jones, tanner

In the Gwynedd Monthly Meeting [MM] records there are the following entries for John Jones in this time period (only some of these apply to him):
10-1. 1716-3-29. John Jones married out of unity and offered an account [this is probably him].
16-1, 1718-1-25. John Jones granted a certificate to Chester MM to marry Margaret Hillbour [Hillborn][this is probably him].
96-1. 1726-12-28. John Jones received on certificate from Merion MM [this is not him].

John Jones had a first, unknown wife. John Jones married, second, Margaret Hillborn (widow, nee Atkinson) under the care of Chester MM. He is not the John Jones who dies in Worcester twp and leaves a will (G 231), proved 1748 (with wife Elizabeth). John Jones, with wife Margaret, has one known child - William Jones who married Jane Evans and perhaps also Sarah Foulke.
John Jones was left 1400 acres of land (the Upper Gwynedd tract) in his father's will, along with the dwelling place (life right of one-half being reserved to the widow.)
An article was published detailing the genealogy of Margaret (Atkinson) Hillborn Jones:
From, The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, Vol XXXI, p. 166, "Atkinson Families of Bucks County, Pennsylvania" by Oliver Hough
She was b. 5mo., 7, 1691 in Lancashire, England
"She accompanied her parents to Pennsylvania [in 1699], living there with her mother, first at "Bellmont" in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, and afterwards in Newtown, until her marriage. She and her sister Isabel were the final surviving co-heiresses to their father's estate; their deed of confirmation of the sale of the 500 acres, 73 perches to the Gilbert heirs, on Nov. 22, 1715, has been mentioned above.
She married first, 9 mo. 8, 1711, at the house of Stephen Twining, in Newtown Township, Samuel Hillborn, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Hillborn, of Newtown Township. They had only on child, a son, Samuel Hillborn (born 6 mo. 13, 1714) who married in 1736, Abigail Twining, daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Mitchell) Twining, of Newtown Township, and granddaughter of Stephen Twining, at whose house her husband's parents were married. Samuel hillborn, Sr. died in 1714 and was buried 10mo. 15. The death of Margaret Hillborn's husband about this time and the fact that her sister in law, Elizabeth Hillborn, had married another Aston settler, Abraham Darlinton, no doubt induced her to follow her sister Isabel to Chester County. In the fall of 1717 Margaret Hillborn, Isabel Carter and Elizabeth Darlington applied for certificates of membership from Middletown Meeting. A committee of the meeting was appointed assist Margaret in settling her affairs." (Jenkins)
Margaret (Atkinson) Hillborn, then of Aston Township, Chester (now Delaware) County, married second, 2 mo. 10, 1719, at Gwynedd Meeting House, John Jones, a widower, of Gwynedd Township, Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County [Register of Chester MM, no record of the marriage at Gwynedd]. At the Gwynedd Monthly Meeting held 12 mo. 25, 1717, [Feb. 25, 1717/8], John Jones requested a certificate to Chester Monthly Meeting in order to marry Margaret Hillborn; this was signed for him 1 mo. [March] 25, 1718. At the women's meeting held 4 mo. 24, 1718, "Margaret Jones having Produced a Certificate from Province Monthly Meeting relating to her Life and conversation which was Read att this Meeting approved of and order to be recorded."
