NEGHR, vol. 71 (1917), Genealogical Research In England, p. 236: John Jocelyn, living in 1225-6, married Katherine Battell, daughter and coheiress of Sir Thomas, Knight, by his wife Elizabeth (de Enfeild), who was daughter and heiress of Sir Richard de Enfeild, Knight. John Jocelyn held lands in Easton and Appletree, co. Northampton, which he gave to the Prior and Canons of Bradenstok [Chrter RTolls, 1226-1257, p. 161]. John Jocelyn; living c 1226; married Katherine, daughter and coheir of Thomas Battell, of Ongar, Essex, by Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Sir Richard Enfield, of Enfield, Middx. [Burke's Peerage] WFT 15, Tree #1143 shows John as the son of Henry Jocelyn and Jane Chastelin; Ancestors of Hugh Alfred Haury & Flora Amelia Switzer (40 generations) shows him as their grandson, the son of their son Ralph. This tree uses Ralph; but further research is needed. |
