Thanks to Pauline Jackson for the following info: John Clifton Jackson came to Texas in 1883, first settling in Washington Co. and in 1901 the family moved to Van Zandt Co. John Cliftons Daughter ( My ggrandmother, Lula Elizabeth Jackson ) used to refer to Washington Co. as " The Hill Country "
