Manhattan, Nov. 4. – The death of John Hyink, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hyink, occurred in this city Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from pneumonia, which developed from an attack of influenza. He had been ill only since last Tuesday but his condition was considered serious almost from the beginning of his illness.

John Hyink was one of the most popular and highly regarded young men in the community. He received his early education in the schools of the county and attended college for a time at Grand Rapids, Michigan. For several years he was a mail clerk on this division of the railway service and for the past year has been acting postmaster in this city.

The death of John Hyink brings sorrow to the entire community, not only in the loss of one so young and capable but his death is the third in the Hyink family in five weeks. On September 28, Garrett Hyink died in France of pneumonia; on October 12 another son, Lawrence, died at Fort Snelling, Minn., from influenza. At the present time two other sons and two daughters are ill with the disease.

John Hyink leaves a wife, nee Hattie Freswick, and one child. The announcement of the hour of the burial service will be made later.
