Came to the US (in 1832 per B. Andre's obit, incorrect) in 1835(his obit, and per Burgerbuch der Verbandsgemeinde Hochspeyer 1650-1850) from Germany: Fischbach in Bavaria (at that time). Per Houser Bible entry: "Neihard on the Rhine" which I cannot find on old atlases. per Burgerbuch der Verbandsgemeinde Hochspeyer 1650-1850 he was born in Fischbach and lived in Fischbach and Enkenbach, near Hochspeyer and Kaiserslautern, Germany

Karl Hans von Hauser, from whom many of the US Housers descend, appears to have originated from the same general area in Germany. He left Germany in the early 1700's though; his family name appears to have changed to Houser (note the "o") prior to John Houser's arrival in the US. Could John Houser Sr. have changed a to o in the US to fit with his "cousins?" We still have no solid link to the large body of US Housers.

member of the Reformed Church in Meadville PA = Lutheran, but his family roots were Mennonite in Germany
