From the January 23, 1986, edition of the Dubuque (IA) Telegraph Herald John S. Hoover John S. Hoover, 67, of 2548 Rosewood Drive, formerly of Harrisburg, Pa., died at 1:30 am Thursday at St. Joseph's Unit of Mercy Health Center. Services will be at 10 am Friday at the First Baptist Church, 2143 Judson Road, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-9 pm Thursday at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave. Mr. Hoover was born in Harrisburg, and was a truck driver for the Dubuque Packing Co. for 37 years. He was a member of Local 150. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Barrett Maas; three sons, Robert of Harrisburg, John Jr. of Camp Hill, Pa., and William of Enola, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Peg) Kellner of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 35 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Melvin, Robert and Martin Maas, all of Dubuque; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Albert (Adele) Davis, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Kramer, Mrs. Robert (Rosie) Heinz and Mrs. Phillip (Marlene) Mihalakis, all of Dubuque; and four sisters, Mrs. Helen Zinn of Dauphin, Pa., Mrs. Emma Kell of Punxsutawney, Pa., Mrs. Marian Bittner of Hulmeville, Pa., and Mrs. Wilma McCloskey of High Spire, Pa. A John S. Hoover Memorial Fund has been established. |
