He is on the 1880 census, age 8 with parents, Mar ion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh.[ED 63, p 27, fam #249/249] On the 1900 census, John, age 29, is a farm laborer on his father's farm. Sarah states they have been married for five years. She has born 4 children, all living, but only three shown with parents.[ED 32, p 110A, fam #48/48 ] In 1910, John, 39, is a "laborer, odd jobs." "Sadie", 41, declares that they have been married 15 years and she has born 7 children, all shown in the home.[ED 76, p 9B, fam 191/200] The child not shown on 1900 census, was probably Bertha, who we see as age 10 in 1910. Some census takers didn't list unnamed infants. On 1920 census, John, 48, is a farm laborer, "working out." in Rush Creek Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh. Wife "Sadie E." 50, is caring for the two children still in the home.[ED 30, p. 10A, fam #230/231] They remain in Rush Creek on the 1930 census, on "By Rd.". John owns a farm he declares worth $1,000, and they have a radio. He is 58 and reports he 23 when first married. He's a laborer - odd jobs; not a veteran. Sadie E., 60, reports she 25 at first marriage, b Ohio to par b. Oh. Son John in the home. (ED 23-32, p. 11B, fam #252/253)
