But, NY Civil War Muster Roll Abstracts, 1861-1900, 21st Infantry, A-J, 928-929, #536 (stamped), image 577 of 652 say this:

- Enlisted: P.R. 1 May 1861, Buffalo, NY 3 mos
- Enlisted [age 23] 4 May 1861, Elmira, NY 2 years
- Mustered in 20 May 1861, Private, 21st regiment infantry, company K “Left the organization”
- Died 1 Oct 1862, as corporal, at Armory Square Hospital, Washington DC of Febris Typhoides.
- Remarks: Promoted Corporal April 15, 1862.
