From Wilkie: Since each of us has an interest in David Smith, 1761 - 1806, let me putthis on the table. Bersheba Harrington, b. ca 1773, was the first of thefour children born to John Harrington and Fraces "Fanny" (Burt) Harrington. The other three children were: #2. Abel Harrington, 1781 SC, d. 30 Oct1804 in Newberry Co., SC. He is buried in the Rutherford Family Cem. inNewberry Co. SC. #3. John Harrington, Jr, b. 05 Apr 1784 on Thickety Creekin Union District, SC. This birth place is very interesting to me becausethe Moorhead cabin was on Thickety Creek about six miles due west of Smith'sFord on The Broad River. We have been there. He died 11 Nov 1850 inNewberry Co., SC. This man often referred to as "Young John Harrington, asin Y.J. Harrington. #4. Birt Harrington, 1790 in Union Co., d. 18 May 1860in Fayette Co., TX. Buried in Fayette Co. TX. The parents of these fourpeople were John Harrington, b. 1750 in Edgecomb, Co., NC and Fraces"Fanny/Fanney" (Burt) Harrington. After old John Harrington died at anearly age, Mrs. Frances (Burt) Harrington married in 1795 in Newberry, Col.Robert Rutherford, b. 1734 VA. The Colonel owned the first cotton gin inNewberry. His plantation, located nine miles east of the city of Newberry, was called Liberty Hill.Happy New YearWilkie
