    (John Hancher)a,78 (John Henshaw)
    Born 1734, Frederick County, Virginia.1,70,b

HISTORY: At Hopewell Friends MM (Virginia) on 8 Mo. 20 1759, John Handcher condemned his marriage out of unity (or marriage contrary to discipline).2 Assuming this Quaker record refers to this particular John, then he apparently married about 1759, but the exact marriage record is not yet known.
He married Sarah Caudy, Sep 11 1768, Frederick County, Virginia.b,a,c Sarah, daughter of James Caudy & Mary Hutchison, was born in 1739, Capon Valley, Hampshire County, Virginia.78,a Sarah's parents were Dutch (they were both born in Holland about 1708).78
On 3 Mo. 21 1771 at Hopewell Friends MM, John Handcher witnessed and signed the marriage certificate of Henry Lewis and Lydia Barrett.d
In 1766, a John Hancher purchased land in Virginia from Lord Fairfax, Baron of Cameron. Valley Virginia Henshaw attributed the land purchase to another John Henshaw, but it is more likely that it was this John Hancher/Henshaw who made this purchase:132,e
