On 4nov1757 James Willison, merchant, as married Barbara, 1st daughter to dec. John Hall, younger, surgeon, Burgess and gild brother, was made burgess and guild brother in Glasgow (“The burgesses and guild brethren of Glasgow 1751-1846”, Scottish record society, 1935). Scotlandspeople have the testament dative and inventory reg. 30apr1722, Glasgow, of John Hall, son lawful to the deceased John Hall, chirurgeon in Glasgow, and the testament dative and inventory reg. 7jun1723, Glasgow, of John Hall, son to John Hall, chirurgeon in Glasgow. Barbaras brother may have been John or her grandfather also a surgeon. It is not clear whether John Hall was previously married to Mary Gemmill, daughter of Peter Gemmill and Mary Scot, daughter of John Scot, Glasgow merchant (History of Glasgow by John M'Ure, written 1736, published 1830). Peter was a merchant, late Baillie and founder of wester-sugar-works (History of G.). Mary GEMMILL married John HALL, younger chirurgeon of Glasgow (History of G.); Marie Gommell married John Hall 1683 at Glasgow (Latter Day Saints) . They had the following children: F Christian HALL. Christin Hall was christened 5may1684 at Glasgow, daughter of John Hall and Mary Gemmil (IGI). Christian married Walter Atchison of Roughsulloch (History of G.).
