John Haines was a native of Camden, New Jersey. He was one of the earliest settlers in Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, where he lived for some years before removing to Springboro. He was married three times, all three wives dying before him. He was a Quaker, and farmer, and died at an advanced age. He is buried in the Friends Cemetery in Springboro; he was a member of the Miami Monthly Meeting.
