Land Records

1781:--100 acres of land on the middle Fork of the Holston River was granted on September 1, 1781, to John Graham. As actual settlement on this tract is indicated as of 1770, it is probable that this John Graham of Washington County, Virginia, was a relative, possibly a cousin, of John Graham (1765-1835). (Lewis Preston Summers, Annals of Southwest Virginia, page 1218.) [The Filson Club History Quarterly, Vol. 13, No. 2, April 1939].
1786:--William Thompson, Executor of James Patton, deceased, sold in 1786 to John Graham for £33.18 a tract of 226 acres of land lying and being in Washington County, Virginia, on the northwest side of Holston River. (Lewis Preston Summers, Annals of Southwest Virginia: 1769-1800, page 1279.) [The Filson Club History Quarterly, Vol. 13, No. 2, April 1939].
John Graham was granted by Virginia on January 10, 1787, 276 acres of land located on the Middle Fork of the Holston River in Washington County. (Lewis Preston Summers, Annals of Southwest Virginia: 1769-1800, page 1218.) [The Filson Club History Quarterly, Vol. 13, No. 2, April 1939]. [Note: this appears to be the same 276 acre tract of land sold by three of John Graham's children in 1826, listed below].
