"John1 Goodrich (John, William), born, probably in Suffolk, after 1611, died in Wethersfield, Conn., in April 1680. … John Goodrich recorded in Wethersfield, 16 Mar. 1644, a house and three acres of land. Later, he acquired various pieces of land there, some by purchase, and some by grant, from the town. At the time of his daughter Mary's marriage to Thomas Read Jr., he conveyed to this son-in-law, one-half the property purchased of Thomas Edwards, 29 Sept. 1677, the deed being witnessed by Joseph Goodrich. Two years later, 11 June 1679, he gave the other half of this land to his son-in-law Zachariah Maynard and his daughter Hannah, Maynard's wife, in consideration of her portion. (Wethersfield Deeds.) … John Goodrich left a will, dated 9 June 1672, which was refused probate, 23 Apr. 1680, as the heirs objected and the executors refused to act. The will was preserved with other papers pertaining to the estate."
