At some time during his adult life John Gibson moved from his father's holding, Dinmuck, in the Southwick portion of Colvend and Southwick parish, to a farm named Tallowquhairn, located to the east of the village of Kirkbean in the adjoining parish of the same name. Tallowquhairn's co-ordinate's are 54.90959N, 3.58669W. The ground at Tallowquhairn is much flatter than of his father's farm and it was probably a much more profitable holding.

Marriage registrations are not available for Colvend and Southwick after 1760 until the introduction of civil registration in 1855. The neighbouring parish of Kirkbean has also been checked for this specific marriage.
