Information from Nellie A GARD 5/15/73: The family record says that John GARD, who bought land six miles south of Marietta and the Ohio River was a brother of Cornelius. Three sons of John GARD were in Washington County, Ohio, two of them with large families. Descendants of Alexander GARD knew they were related to descendants of Cornelius.

In Nellie A GARD's "DUNSMOOR/GAGE" page 143 she speaks of Robert Gard son of Nathan Gard whose GRANDFATHER was John Gard, a Revolutionary War soldier from New Jersey who bought land in Wood County VA (now West VA) about six miles south of the Ohio River and Marietta, Ohio, in 1800. John GARD was a brother of Cornelius GARD who came to Washington Co., Ohio in 1802. Both John and Cornelius came to the Ohio River Valley from Hampshire County, VA but were born in Morris County, New Jersey, sons of Jeremiah GARD.
