From GUARDIAN Vol 8, No 2 (August 1998)
Elizabeth Johnson: Several years ago Elsie Carnes Davis claimed she located the will of _____ Johnson that stated his daughter was Elizabeth (Johnson) Gard. Elsie would not reveal Johnsons given name or it's source. So Nellie Gard had received her information from Elsie. To date no such will has been found. Elizabeth Johnson is the name that so many claim was the wife of Jeremiah Gard (1716-1783) of Morris County, New Jersey.
One Morris County, History (Crayon Record) stated that Jeremiah and Elizabeth Gard raised 7 sons who grew up and fought in the Revolutionary War. Here is where most people make the mistake taking it that Jeremiah's 1st wife was Elizabeth, but the history is referring to his 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Roff) Moore Gard and of course they raised this family. After all, when the mother of the children, (Wife #1) died, she left children John age 20, Phebe age 18, Rebecca age 16, Moses about age 13, Cornelius age 12, Timothy age 11, Daniel age 7 and Alexander, less than 1 year of age.
First Wife of Daniel Gard Jr. She died in early spring of 1737: Jan-Feb-Mar
