According to the manuscript MS178 in the National Library of Ireland, DUblin: Sir John FitzGerald, son of Thomas FitzGerald 7th Earl of Kildare, by Dorothea, dau. of Anthony O’More, Prince of Leix, whom the Earl is stated to have married before he came to the title Ped: Vol 1, Ulster’s Office and Pedigrees Vol 16, p.53 Ulster’s Office, which latter entry styles Dorothea O’More, “wife of Thomas 7th Earl of Kildare”, and records her death as occurring A.D1478. Sir John was assigned extensive domains, and the wrong done to his mother was avenged by his maternal relations of the O’More Clan by the murder of his half brother Gerald, the 8th Earl and Great Earl of Kildare, in September 1513.
