Daniel) White of Hartford [Hatfield], b. 1671, and who d. 7 Sept., 1766, æ. 95 (E. W. O.)."

"Esther (White) … m. Dec. 7, 1696, Lieut. John Ellsworth of Windsor, Conn. He is called the first settler of Ellington, then a part of Windsor; although his family had not removed thither previous to his death, which occurred by accident. A stone was erected, bearing this inscription: 'Lieut. John Ellsworth was killed here by the fall of a tree, Oct. 26th, 1720, aged 49 years and 19 days.' The stone has been removed a short distance, and now stands by the road-side, about one mile southeast of the meeting-house."
