    II. Jonathan (Lieut.) (son of Josiah I) born June 26, 1669. June 22 according to Bible record in David's family. Baptized July 4, 1669. … He was connected actively with the militia being appointed ensign in May 1713, and Lieut, in May 1726. He was also at one time Capt. of a troop of horse. … His death was caused by being thrown from a horse, when riding in Windsor Street, after which he lived only a few days, … He is buried in Windsor Cemetery and the inscription on his monument is: 'Here Lyes the Body of Lieut. Jonathan Elsworth who died Sep. the 13th, 1749. In ye 81st year of his age.'"

    "JONATHAN ELLSWORTH ... was born on 28 Jun 1669. He married Sarah Grant, daughter of Tahan Grant and Hannah Palmer, on 26 Oct 1693 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He died on 13 Sep 1749 at age 80. Jonathan was a partner in a saw mill and grist mill, and operated a tavern and small store. He died in 1749 when thrown from a horse at age 80."
