John deserted Elizabeth, returned, then left again for good. Nothing further was ever known of his whereabouts. Some online family trees name him as "George Dry" but Leon Willman says he was a "John Dry." Both might be correct as I believe he could be "John George Dry" who, according to a record in IGI, was christened 23 Oct 1809 at Ziegels Lutheran And Reformed Church, Weisenberg Twp., Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania. John George Dry's parents were a Jonathan and Susanna Dry who later moved to Maxatawny in Berks County by 1840. Jonathan was a blacksmith. Both he and Susannah were born about 1788 in Pennsylvania.
